I have found a wonderful local band thanks to the Les Femmes Folles interview that they had ([link]). All Young Girls Are Machine Guns ([link])

This song is worth listening to: [link]
I think it's very relaxing and would be great for having a "spa day", reading, meditating, or whatever you plan on doing to calm yourself.

Diane Arbus ([link])
Images- ([link])
I love the black and white. I love the untraditional subjects. I love, I love, I love! She is wonderful and provides a great deal of inspiration for me. I must see the movie Fur ([link]).
Her daughter, Amy Arbus ([link]) followed her mother's lead and makes wonderful images. Portfolio- ([link])

Richard Avedon ([link])
Images- ([link])
I wish I could have modeled for him. Wikipedia says that he would often ask models questions and try to make them uncomfortable/get expressions out of them that were natural. How fun.
I also must see the the movie Funny Face now ([link])

"Never take a picture of anything you are not passionately interested in" - Lisette Model
Lisette Model ([link]) seems to be another excellent photographer but I am having a hard time finding her work. When I google image search, I get what I believe to be a combination of her and Diane Arbus. I don't want to confuse their work. Anybody know of particular Lisette Model images that you love?

Larry Ferguson ([link]) suggested I look up Helmut Newton and I wanted to mention them both.
Larry (though his nudes are not listed on his website, you can find them on ebay- [link]) is a great photographer and wonderful to work with. Anthony and I worked with Larry a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to share the images. It will allow you to really see some of the complexity in Anthony and I's relationship. I have previewed them and will be receiving some on a disc in the near future. How exciting, right?
Anyway... Helmut Newton ([link]) is fantastic! His wife, Alice Springs, is as well. I highly suggest looking them up.
One of my favorites by Helmut: [link]

Bill Brandt ([link]) is worth looking up.

I found this and thought that it was great: [link]
From the above link:
"I met Alan Hillier today. He lives in a caravan park in Lightning Ridge, a small Australian mining town and the world's richest source of black opal. He is sixty-seven years old and all that he is fits into two suitcases.
Alan's life isn't the romanticised existence he thought it would be. He places himself in the shadows of the community, amongst those who are now too old and weathered by the harsh rural environment.
As we spoke, the caravan was empty and quiet. The neighbouring vans sat close but not close enough for people to touch. I felt guilty when he offered his last beer. I couldn't help but think that people who have so little give so much.
What is obvious is that his dreams have been lost, his power has dissipated, and his life has been reduced to invisibility in a rented caravan. I wanted to make Alan more visible."
